About The Therapist
Gail F. Canavan, DNP, APN, C is a doctorally prepared psychotherapist and sex therapist with over 30 years of experience in private practice. She holds national certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse Specialist, with Prescriptive Authority in the state of New Jersey. Dr. Canavan is nationally certified by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists as a Sex Therapist. Dr. Canavan works with individuals and couples of all ages and sexual orientations and specializes in the treatment of individuals and couples experiencing sexual and/or relationship problems.
In addition to sex and relationship therapy, Dr. Canavan offers psychotherapy and medication management for patients with psychiatric disorders and stressful life events including depression, parenting issues, bipolar disorder, adjustment reactions, grief, emotional dysregulation, postpartum depression, alcohol and drug misuse or addiction, out of control sexual behavior, OCD, panic and anxiety disorders, PTSD, eating disorders and issues resulting from aging or medical illness.
